About this winery
Deakin Estate wines are crafted entirely from our proprietary vineyards, which lie in the Murray Darling region of north west Victoria, Australia. Purchased in 1967, Deakin Estate was planted to premium wine grapes which were sold as fruit until 1980 when a winery facility was built. Production notes
The fruit is machine-harvested from various vineyards in the region, from late February to mid-March. Fermentation takes place on the skins for 6 to 8 days at a controlled temperature of 22–26 °C. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, then ages in stainless steel tanks on French and American oak staves for 6 months.
Tasting notes
Rich, silky, and perfectly balanced between power and elegance, this wine reveals aromas of ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry, candied strawberry), enhanced by notes of vanilla, gentle spices, and a hint of wood. Its deep ruby color with garnet highlights precedes an expressive nose blending fruit, licorice, vanilla, and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, it offers a smooth attack, fine tannins, and a long, fruity, spicy finish. Serve between 16 and 18 °C to enjoy its full aromatic richness. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, spicy pasta dishes, sautéed beef, charcuterie, and aged cheeses.
