Product notes

The vineyards of E. Guigal in Châteauneuf-du-Pape rest on soils mainly composed of rolled pebbles (galets) deposited by the Rhône River, mixed with layers of clay and limestone. This combination provides excellent drainage while retaining enough moisture to nourish the vines during dry periods. The presence of limestone adds minerality and freshness, while the pebbles store heat from the sun during the day and release it at night, promoting optimal grape ripening. This unique terroir gives the wine complexity, structure, and finesse.

Production notes

The harvest is done by hand, with a rigorous selection of clusters to retain only perfectly ripe grapes. The vinification takes place partly in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve freshness and aromatic qualities, and partly in oak barrels to add complexity and texture. Aging on fine lees, with regular stirring (batonnage), lasts several months, giving the wine roundness and depth while maintaining its liveliness.

Tasting notes

The wine shows a bright pale yellow color, with an elegant nose marked by notes of white flowers, peach, pear, and a subtle woody touch. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balanced, with good acidity and a fresh, mineral finish. Served between 10 and 12 °C, it pairs perfectly with grilled fish, seafood, poultry in sauce, and goat cheese.
