Product notes
The grapes come from Quinta da Fonte Branca vineyards, near Lamego, and from wineries in the Alijó and Favaios region, all owned by the Symington family. 2017 was the second driest year in the history of the Douro and the hottest in the past 40 years. The temperate but dry winter was followed by a hot, dry spring. The local varieties of the Douro reacted resiliently, adjusting very early to the drought. The harvest was hasty, but a warm spell in September made it possible to harvest grapes of exceptional quality. This vintage has exceeded all expectations.
Production notes
The grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed. The must is left in contact with the skins for some time, until the desired level of extraction is achieved. After clarification, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 14 and 16 ° C. Aging for three months in stainless steel, with minimal contact with oxygen to maintain the aromatic freshness of the wine.
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow color. This wine reveals bright aromas of wild flowers, citrus and apple. The palate is lively, with tropical fruit flavors balanced by crunchy acidity. Pairings with salads, seafood, grilled fish, white meats or alone as an aperitif. Serve at 10-12 ° C.
