Product notes

Erratic weather conditions at the start of the season presented some challenges. Heavy rains during flowering limited the potential harvest. Despite the delay, the hot, dry summer allowed the berries to ripen. The harvest took place in perfect conditions.

Production notes

This LBV is produced in the traditional style, from the best wines of a single good year. After four years of aging in barrels, the wine is bottled without filtration. While tradition requires four years of aging in the bottle, this vintage has benefited from a longer maturation, nine full years in bottle in the cellars of Smith Woodhouse.

Tasting notes

A scarlet crown encircles a surprisingly opaque background. The nose is very fragrant with aromas of strawberry and raspberry and nuances of mint and cistus. The medium-bodied palate is opulent and loaded with blackberry flavors. Peppery and rounded tannins announce a wine already pleasant to drink, but able to improve further. Ideal pairing with chocolate desserts, mature and blue cheeses.
