About this winery

Robert Villepigue, director of Château Figeac from 1905 to 1928 then owner of Château Cadet Piolat had the idea of creating a cooperative winery in Saint-Emilion in the 1930s. In 1966, the winery was recognized as a producer group. Its activity then extended to the 8 communes of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) "Saint-Emilion" Today, the Union of Producers represents more than 12% of all AOC Saint-Emilion.

Product notes

Château Bénitey takes its name from a cross at the junction of the road above the vineyard, a cross reminiscent of a holy water font.

Production notes

Harvest by plot and by grape variety. Gravity vat in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Pre-fermentation maceration. Vatting for 25 to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation in vats. Aging twelve to fourteen months in French oak barrels (20 to 40% new).

Tasting notes

Château Bénitey is characterized by a purple color, an intense nose of blackberry and blackcurrant, all in finesse. With a fresh entry in the mouth, this is a wine offering beautiful tannins and an aromatic expression of good length. Enjoy with grilled lamb chops or a piece of beef, with pepper sauce. Serving temperature: 16 to 18 ° C.
