Product notes
Hilly area with southeast and southwest exposure. The soil is mainly clayey and limestone, rich in rock fragments. The vines grow on marl-limestone soils, composed of limestone and rocky fragments, which provide excellent drainage. These soils originate from the erosion of the Monti Lessini and contribute to the wine’s minerality and finesse. The hillside location promotes even ripening of the grapes while preserving their natural freshness. The soil structure also allows good root aeration, which is essential for grape quality.
Production notes
The grapes are harvested by hand in early October to ensure optimal ripeness and careful selection. After destemming and gentle crushing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit’s freshness. Maceration lasts about 10 days to extract color, aroma, and soft tannins. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for 12 months to enhance complexity and balance.
Tasting notes
The Zenato Valpolicella Superiore displays an intense ruby red color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals elegant aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, violet, and sweet spices. The palate is smooth and harmonious, with fine tannins, good freshness, and a persistent, lightly oaked finish. It is best served at 16 to 18 °C and pairs beautifully with grilled meats, rich pasta dishes, mushroom risottos, or aged cheeses.
