About this winery
Petra is an ambitious project led by a father-daughter team: Vittorio and Francesca Moretti. The Moretti are also owners of Bellavista, a house renowned for its Franciacorta wines. The property covers 300 hectares, and its magnificent cellar is the work of award-winning architect Mario Botta. The whole estate is cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture. Product notes
Terroir: Loamy-sandy texture, slightly calcareous. The climate is typically mediterranean, with moderately warm and dry summers mitigated by the sea breezes. Low rainfall during the growing season. Height above sea level: 50m. Plant density: 6200 vines per hectare.
Production notes
Manual harvest when the grapes are fully ripe, from late August to mid-September, using 17 kg boxes. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Aging in oak casks followed by aging in vats, then six months in bottle. Small parts of the blend evolve for 10-12 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Tasting notes
Ruby red color. The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, violet and blueberry with mineral notes. The palate is fresh and sapid, light, pleasantly fruity, with supple and precise tannins. Serve with lean cuts of beef and pasta in tomato sauce. Ideal serving temperature: 16 to 18 ° C.
