Castello di Buttrio
Castello di Buttrio Friuli Colli Orientali
2017
About this winery
The first objective was to understand and capitalize on the wealth of historic vineyards, considered the real heritage of the company. Cultivated around the castle, within an area of about 10 ha, they date back to circa 1940 and, with their various indigenous varietals, represent the wine history of Friuli. These plants, pillars of time, instinctively convey strength and give balance and structure to the wine.

Alternate layers of marl and sandstone of Eocean origin, a soil locally known as ponca. Hillside landscaped in terraces to improve management. The average altitude of 142 meters ensures good air circulation and an ideal thermal amplitude between day and night.
Production notes
Harvest by hand, in small boxes. Soft press with separation of fractions. Stabilization at 14 ° C for 24 to 36 hours. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature ranging from 18 to 20 ° C. Aging for six to eight months with periodic stirring to put the lees in suspension.
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow color. The nose is intense, aromatic and presents notes of almond and ripe fruit. The palate is round and tasty thanks to a well balanced acidity and a rich extraction. Almond notes underline a long aromatic finish. Unrivaled partner of prosciutto and culatello. Heavenly pairing with omelettes with fine herbs, risottos and asparagus. Serve at 8-10 ° C.
