About this winery

The origin of the estate dates back to 1638. At the time, Léoville was the largest Médoc property, divided over time and generations. Léoville Poyferré will initiate the legend of this great wine in 1840 and will be consecrated fifteen years later Second Grand Cru Classé. Didier Cuvelier will preside over the destinies of this jewel in 1979.

Product notes

Terroir: Garonne gravel and aeolian sands.

Production notes

Manual harvest with sorting and destemming. Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is the second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré. Coming mainly from the youngest vines of the property, the same care and the same philosophy are applied to its production as to those of Château Léoville Poyferré and Château Moulin Riche. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Bonding with egg white, filtration. Aging 12 months in barrels.

Tasting notes

Beautiful suppleness and ripe tannins envelop a mid-palate that exudes notes of ripe fruit. The wine is ample and offers an intense finish. A very nice second wine. Pair with lamb, veal, white meats in sauce. Comté cheese.
