The history of the De Bortoli family is one of determination and triumph that begins at the beginning of the precedent century in a Europe in the middle of a world war, and the story is now known across Australia, several generations later. Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli are then like thousands of European immigrants in Australia and are trying, with the help of their families and their friends, to make the most of their new land. Product notes
Late spring rains allowed the vines to prosper following a relatively dry winter. Average yields allowing good varietal flavours to develop throughout the vineyards. The region has an average rainfall of 400mm which is spread evenly throughout the year. High evaporation and relatively low humidity, high solar radiation and ample sunshine are features of the summer season. A characteristic of the climate is the high growing season temperatures.
Production notes
Harvested when the fruit is showing vibrant berry flavors and plush tannins. A cool close on skins for 5-6 days. Gently pressed to maintain softness, freshness and maximize fruit drive.
Tasting notes
Bright red in appearance with ripe raspberries and spice on the nose. The palate is juicy and plump with cherries and a gentle tannin finish. A fruit driven soft juicy Shiraz that can be consumed with your choice of bbq, chilli beef or pizza.
