Mer Soleil Vineyard
Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands
2019
About this winery
Mer Soleil began thirty years ago with a drive from the Napa Valley down to the Santa Lucia Highlands in search of the best land to plant Chardonnay. The Wagner Family (Caymus vineyards) put down roots in the region, drawn in by its down-to-earth vibe, rich farming history and weather that could not be more ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Production notes
Harvest from October 10 to 31. Only part of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation to ensure firm acidity with a round mouth feel. Manual brewing of the barrels for a creamy texture. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for a little less than a year.
Tasting notes
Bright linen gold, this wine presents a harmonious nose and a balanced palate. Scents of brown spices, toasted almonds, custard and light oak mingle with Meyer lemon zest, honeysuckle and a hint of apricot. The entry is round, as the fruit and natural acidity of this wine complement each other in a creamy texture. A vibrant lemon / lime finish showcases an alluring freshness that prepares the palate for another sip.
