Product notes
The Valais region in Switzerland is one of the country’s largest wine-growing areas, located south of the Alps. The Fendant vineyards are generally situated between 400 and 800 meters above sea level, which brings freshness and finesse to the wine. The soils are mainly composed of well-drained calcareous schist, sometimes mixed with glacial moraines, contributing minerality and complexity. The climate is semi-continental with Mediterranean influences, receiving around 600 mm of annual rainfall, and is characterized by hot, dry summers and cool nights, which promote slow and steady grape ripening. The Fendant grape, the local name for Chasselas, is widely grown in the region and is known for producing light, fresh, and mineral-driven white wines.
Production notes
The harvest of the Swiss Valley Fendant Valais AOC 2022 is carried out manually in 15 kg crates at the end of September, the optimal period to ensure perfect grape ripeness. The blend is made from carefully selected Fendant grapes, traditionally vinified. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by six months of aging on fine lees in the same tanks.
Tasting notes
Swiss Valley Fendant displays a pale yellow color with silver highlights, bright and clear. The nose is delicate, floral, and expressive, dominated by aromas of white flowers such as hawthorn and acacia, along with white-fleshed fruits like pear and apple, and a mineral touch typical of Valais-grown Chasselas. On the palate, the attack is lively and fresh, supported by a fine natural hint of carbon dioxide that enhances the wine’s energy. The texture is supple and elegant, with a nice linearity. The floral notes perceived on the nose reappear, accompanied by citrus nuances and a subtle salinity on the finish. The wine stands out for its balance between finesse, freshness, and pleasant maturity. This Fendant can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with food. It goes perfectly with appetizers, seafood platters, grilled or poached fish, and cheese-based dishes such as raclette or fondue. It also pairs very well with light, alpine-inspired cuisine. It is best served chilled, between 8 and
