About this winery

Saint Clair Family Estate is owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, viticulture pioneers in Marlborough since 1978. Grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies; however a desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard through to the finished wine led to the establishment of Saint Clair Family Estate in 1994. Product notes

Southern Valleys soils are a combination of clay and alluvial river deposits.

Production notes

Harvest at optimum maturity, depending on the vineyard lots. Machine harvest, early April. Immediate transport and rapid pressing to minimize skin contact. Cold fermentation with selected yeasts. Only the best lots are selected for "Origin". Vinification in stainless steel vats, then bottled for marketing.

Tasting notes

Pale straw robe. Tropical aromas of passion fruit, guava and blackcurrant that combine with nettle and subtle chalky mineral notes. Its mouth is rich with flavors of passion fruit, guava and blackcurrant and culminates in a long mineral finish. Perfect with fresh seafood.
