About this winery

Robert Villepigue, director of Château Figeac from 1905 to 1928 then owner of Château Cadet Piolat had the idea of creating a cooperative winery in Saint-Emilion in the 1930s. In 1966, the winery was recognized as a producer group. Its activity then extended to the 8 communes of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) "Saint-Emilion" Today, the Union of Producers represents more than 12% of all AOC Saint-Emilion.

Production notes

Harvest by plot and by grape variety. Optical sorting, gravity vatting in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Vatting for 25 to 30 days. Use of low volume vertical presses. Malolactic fermentation in vats. Aging 12-14 months in French oak barrels (30% new).

Tasting notes

With a magnificent deep garnet color, the nose is intense with notes of blackcurrant, vanilla and undergrowth. The palate is rich and spicy, offering generous structure and good length to the palate. Will go wonderfully with a hare stew or a heather cock in a raisin casserole.
