Product notes

This 60-hectare vineyard is situated on a terroir of deep gravel interspersed with clay-limestone veins, providing an exceptional environment: the gravel ensures optimal drainage and thermal regulation conducive to maturation, while the clay-limestone subsoil regulates moisture and imparts finesse and minerality to the wines, all within the geological continuity of the Haut-Médoc's alluvial terraces.

Production notes

This wine, made from manual harvests, benefits from prolonged vinification and meticulous monitoring: it constitutes an excellent gateway to the great wine. Coming from younger plots, whose grapes were not retained for the Grand Vin, it takes its name from the vines overlooking the Château. Aged for 14 to 18 months in new oak barrels, renewed at 60% each year.

Tasting notes

The Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas 2005 is an elegant and structured red wine, offering a fine introduction to the grand vin of Château Lynch-Moussas. It displays a deep ruby color with garnet reflections. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, complemented by notes of tobacco, cedar, and chocolate. On the palate, it presents a voluptuous texture, a fresh attack, a full-bodied structure, and a long finish with a subtle spiciness. This wine is recommended to be served between 16 and 18 °C to fully appreciate its aromas and structure. It pairs perfectly with dishes such as grilled red meats, game, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses. It can also accompany rich pasta dishes or grilled meats. Although this wine can be enjoyed now, it possesses good aging potential. It can be stored in a cellar for an additional 5 to 8 years, or more, depending on storage conditions. For optimal tasting, it is advisable to open the bottle about an hour before serving to allow the wine to breathe and fully release its aromas.
