Product notes

Château des Laurets is located in the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard stretches over south and southeast-facing hillsides at an average altitude of 80 to 100 meters. The soils are mainly clay-limestone, resting on a limestone plateau with astéries, with areas of clayey molasse and silty sands. The climate is temperate oceanic, with warm summers, dry autumns, and moderate temperature variations.

Production notes

Harvesting is done by hand, with careful selection of grape bunches both in the vineyard and at the winery. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with long macerations (around 3 to 4 weeks) to extract color and structure. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, partly new, for approximately 12 to 16 months, depending on the vintage and the batch.

Tasting notes

Château des Laurets shows a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe dark fruits (plum, blackcurrant), licorice, with woody and toasted notes from aging. On the palate, the wine is structured, full-bodied, and balanced, with smooth, well-integrated tannins, good length, and a slightly spicy finish. It is recommended to serve it between 16 and 18 °C, after aerating or decanting for about thirty minutes to reveal its full complexity. This wine pairs perfectly with roasted or grilled red meats (ribeye, duck breast), slow-cooked dishes (beef bourguignon, daube), game, as well as aged cheeses (comté, tomme, cantal).
