About this winery
El Coto de Rioja is organized as if it were twelve small wineries. Each one with the optimum conditions for its job, where each part of the process is handled independently. The vinification is carried out in small tanks that do not exceed 50,000 liters and all our red wines are aged in oak barrels, which are replaced annually. Product notes
The Verdejo grapes used for this wine come from vineyards situated at high altitude on clay-limestone soils rich in minerals. The climate is characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night, promoting slow ripening and maintaining naturally high acidity, essential for the wine’s balance and freshness.
Production notes
The harvest is done by hand, usually during the cool morning hours to preserve the integrity and freshness of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (between 14 and 16 °C) to retain the fresh and fruity aromas of Verdejo. No oak aging is performed to preserve aromatic purity. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling, with no oak maturation, favoring a clean and lively style.
Tasting notes
This Verdejo has a bright pale yellow color with expressive aromas of apple, pear, citrus, and herbal notes. It is fresh, lively, and balanced on the palate, featuring crisp acidity and a light to medium body, finishing long and slightly mineral. It pairs well with seafood, white fish, summer salads, light tapas, Mediterranean dishes, oysters, grilled calamari, steamed vegetables, and fresh or mild goat cheeses. It’s also great as a fresh, light aperitif. Serve chilled between 8 °C and 10 °C.
