About this winery

To speak of Grandes Vinos is to speak of a unique land, of tradition, of sunshine, of rain, of effort and dedication… but most of all, it is to speak of passion. Passion for wine and everything that surrounds it. A passion that unites us to enjoy and share the best moments of our lives. More than half a century ago, between 1950 and 1967, winegrowers from different municipalities of the district of Cariñena formed the cooperatives Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Villanueva de Huerva, San Roque...

Product notes

The soils are clay-limestone with a strong presence of stones on the surface, which promotes natural drainage and high aromatic concentration. The vines, aged between 35 and 45 years, are cultivated using the gobelet method, a traditional technique that limits yields and improves quality.

Production notes

The harvest is entirely manual, with rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and in the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 28 °C, preceded by a cold pre-fermentation maceration at 6 °C for 96 hours, allowing optimal extraction of aromas and colors. The wine is aged for 24 months in oak barrels (70% American and 30% French) to refine the tannic structure and develop subtle woody notes. After aging, the wine rests in the bottle for less than 24 months before being released to the market.

Tasting notes

The wine displays a bright ruby red color with garnet highlights. The nose is complex and elegant, revealing aromas of black cherry, plum, along with gentle spicy notes, tobacco, fine wood, and a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied with well-balanced acidity, fine and silky tannins, and a generous texture. The finish is long, harmonious, and persistent. It is recommended to serve this wine at 16 to 18 °C to fully enjoy its nuances.
