Product notes

The Monasterio de las Viñas Crianza 2021 is an iconic cuvée from the Cariñena appellation. This characterful red wine is made from carefully selected vineyard grapes. Aged according to the strict requirements of the Crianza designation, it offers beautiful aromatic complexity, a balanced structure, and excellent value for money. It is aimed at lovers of generous, flavorful, yet approachable red wines.

Production notes

The wine is aged according to the standards of the Spanish Crianza classification, which means a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels, followed by a period of rest in the bottle. This process allows the oak notes to integrate harmoniously, enhances the aromatic complexity, and softens the tannins. The region’s marked continental climate—hot in summer and cold in winter—contributes to the wine’s concentration and freshness.

Tasting notes

Monasterio de las Viñas Crianza 2021 stands out with its deep ruby color and garnet hues, indicating early development. The nose is complex and expressive, offering aromas of black cherry, plum, dark chocolate, and toasted wood, enhanced by notes of clove, smoke, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine opens generously with a well-balanced, medium-bodied structure supported by firm yet ripe tannins. A well-judged freshness highlights flavors of red fruits, gentle spices, and ground red pepper. The texture is both tight and juicy, leading to a long, persistent finish with hints of coffee, dried strawberry, and subtle oak. Served between 16°C and 18°C, this wine reveals its full aromatic complexity and refined texture. It pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as herb-crusted beef, shepherd’s pie, braised beef ravioli with port, walnuts, and blue cheese, or roasted rack of lamb with root vegetables, thyme, and confit garlic.
