Product notes
Clay-limestone soils with stones on the surface. Mediterranean continental climate, featuring hot, dry summers and relatively cold winters, promoting slow and gradual ripening of the grapes.
Production notes
The grapes are hand-harvested from the vineyards of Cariñena. After careful selection, they are destemmed and crushed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the fruity aromas. Post-fermentation maceration lasts about 15 to 20 days to extract structure and aromatic complexity. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to soften the acidity. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, developing woody, vanilla, and spicy notes. After aging, it is bottled and rests in the cellar to allow better integration of aromas before being released.
Tasting notes
The Monasterio de Las Viñas Reserva 2020 displays a deep cherry red color with garnet reflections. The nose is complex and elegant, revealing intense aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by spicy, vanilla, and lightly toasted notes from the oak aging. On the palate, the entry is broad and silky, with well-integrated tannins that provide structure and finesse. The mineral freshness balances the richness of the fruit, while the finish is long and persistent, marked by spicy nuances and a delicate hint of licorice. This wine is characterized by its harmonious balance between power and elegance, making it ideal to accompany red meats, game, or sauced dishes.
