Product notes

This Ventoux red comes from varied terroirs located on clay-limestone and stony slopes, characteristic of the Ventoux massif. These well-drained, mineral-rich soils provide the wine with a beautiful structure and aromatic depth. The moderate altitude promotes slow and balanced ripening of the grapes, helping to preserve freshness and complexity. This terroir imparts typical notes of ripe red and black fruits, accompanied by an elegant spicy touch and lovely minerality, supported by silky tannins and balanced freshness.

Production notes

The grapes are hand-harvested to preserve their integrity. The harvest is often sorted to keep only the healthiest and highest-quality clusters. Vinification begins with a long maceration, lasting between 15 and 20 days, allowing for the extraction of color, tannins, and complex aromas. This maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (usually around 25-28°C) to manage extraction while preserving aromatic freshness. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation, which softens the wine’s acidity and adds roundness and smoothness on the palate. Aging is mainly done in stainless steel tanks, sometimes complemented by time in oak barrels depending on the vintage, to add subtle oak nuances and additional complexity. The aging period typically ranges from 6 to 12 months. The entire process aims to produce a balanced, expressive wine that is true to its terroir, with silky tannins and refreshing acidity.

Tasting notes

The Marrenon Classique Ventoux Rouge displays a deep ruby color with purple highlights. On the nose, it reveals rich aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, combined with notes of black fruits like blackberry, accompanied by elegant spicy touches and hints of licorice and forest floor. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, with silky, well-integrated tannins. The texture is round, supported by a nice freshness that balances the fruity richness. The finish is persistent, marked by delicate minerality and spicy notes. It is recommended to serve this wine between 16°C and 18°C to fully enjoy its aromatic expression and structure. This wine pairs perfectly with grilled or sauced red meat dishes, such as leg of lamb, herb-crusted beef fillet, or wild boar stew. It also goes very well with Mediterranean dishes, aged cheeses like Cantal or Comté, as well as dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles.
