Product notes

Marrenon Classique Ventoux Rouge comes from the hillsides on the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux, at an altitude between 300 and 500 meters. The climate is Mediterranean with a mountainous influence. The soils are composed of limestone scree, red clay, and sand. Most of the vineyard plots face south or southeast. The vines are grown on well-drained soils, often on terraces or gentle slopes.

Production notes

The grapes used for Marrenon Classique Ventoux Rouge are harvested at optimal ripeness, usually between late September and early October. Harvesting is partly done by hand and partly by machine, depending on the parcels. The grape bunches are then sorted and fully destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with regular pump-overs to extract color and aromas. Maceration lasts around 10 to 15 days. After racking, the wine is pressed and aged in tanks for several months to preserve its fruitiness and freshness. Depending on the vintage, a portion may be aged in oak barrels, though this is not systematic.

Tasting notes

Tasting Marrenon Classique Ventoux Rouge begins with a deep ruby red color, highlighted by bright purplish reflections, revealing the grapes' full ripeness. On the nose, the wine opens with an intense bouquet of ripe red and black fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberry, and raspberry, accompanied by delicate notes of sweet spices, licorice, and occasionally a floral touch. On the palate, the attack is round and generous. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, offering a velvety texture. The dark fruit flavors are fully expressed, supported by a lovely freshness and well-balanced structure. The finish is long and persistent, marked by fruity and spicy notes. This wine is best enjoyed at a temperature between 15 and 16 degrees Celsius. It pairs beautifully with grilled or slow-cooked red meats such as ribeye steak or Provençal beef stew. It also goes very well with charcuterie platters, aged cheeses (especially goat or sheep’s milk cheeses), as well as Mediterranean dishes like ratatouille or vegetable tian.
