About this winery

Barros translates the Portuguese character into wine, combining tradition, authenticity and modern values. Barros wines are a celebration of Portuguese talent. They express a talent which is very Portuguese, enhanced by experience and knowledge. They were created in the beginning of the 20th century, in 1913, and soon became a reference brand to Port wine consumers. In honour of the Portuguese consumer, Barros wines encompass Port Tawny wines and Port Ruby wines.

Product notes

Soil and terroir: Schist and pre-Ordovician grauwacke, with some granite formations. Altitude up to 600 meters.

Production notes

Manual harvest at the best time, in September or October. The grapes are destemmed, crushed and vinified with careful maceration to extract color, tannins and aromas. Fermentation in vats at a temperature between 28 and 30 ° C, with constant pumping over. When the desired balm is reached, the wine is mutated by the addition of brandy. Aging in barrels for variable periods, but never less than seven years, and bottled as and when market demand.

Tasting notes

Pretty amber color with golden reflections. Powerful and elegant nose that perfectly integrates the intense aromas of dried fruit, wood and spices. In the mouth, it is delicate and extremely delicate, revealing at the same time a great character which is prolonged in a delectable finish. Perfect with tangerine, caramel fondant, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-strength cheeses. Serving temperature: 12 to 14 ° C.
