About this winery

Robert Villepigue, director of Château Figeac from 1905 to 1928 then owner of Château Cadet Piolat had the idea of creating a cooperative winery in Saint-Emilion in the 1930s. In 1966, the winery was recognized as a producer group. Its activity then extended to the 8 communes of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) "Saint-Emilion" Today, the Union of Producers represents more than 12% of all AOC Saint-Emilion.

Tasting notes

The Château Divine Bêtise Montagne Saint-Emilion AOC displays a deep, bright ruby color. Its intense and complex nose reveals aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, accompanied by delicate spicy notes of clove, black pepper, and subtly toasted vanilla, along with a slight smoky and woody touch from barrel aging. On the palate, this wine is distinguished by an elegant tannic structure with fine, well-integrated tannins, combining firmness and suppleness. The lively acidity balances the rich fruitiness and spices, offering a long, harmonious, and persistent finish marked by a subtle chocolate note and a return of the spices. Served at room temperature (16-18 °C), it is perfect to enjoy with friends, paired with grilled red meat, game, or a platter of aged cheeses.
