About this winery

Product notes

Warre’s Otima Tawny 10 Years Old is a Port wine produced in the Douro region of Portugal. The terroir of the Douro is characterized by steep terraces along the banks of the Douro River, with soils mainly composed of schist, a metamorphic rock that retains heat well while efficiently draining water. This unique geology, combined with a Mediterranean climate featuring hot, dry summers and cool winters, allows for slow and optimal grape ripening, promoting concentrated aromas and great complexity in the wines. The vines are often planted at high density on steep slopes, which limits yields and contributes to the quality of the grapes used for this long-aged Port.

Production notes

Manual harvest, from the end of August to September. Fermentation takes place between 24 and 28 ° C. When the wort has reached the desired sugar level (normally 48 hours), it is fortified with brandy. The wine is then aged in oak barrels in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The designation 10 years or 20 years means the average age of the wines of the blend.

Tasting notes

Brick red color. Aroma of hazelnut, honey, caramel, with great finesse and elegance. Superb balance, rich, unctuous, melted, very long and complex on the finish. Great with cheeses, nuts or dried fruit, crème brûlée or hazelnut or chocolate cake. Serving temperature: 14 to 16 ° C
