Marked during his childhood by Château Bourdieu, which he saw every week on his way to boarding school, Luc Schweitzer, who became a winegrower in his parents' wake, decided to acquire the property in 1993. Soil and terroir: Clay, limestone, gravelly. Average age of the vines: 35 years.
Production notes
Regular soil maintenance, manual leaf stripping for optimal aeration of the plots, thinning if necessary. Harvests with high phenolic maturity and grape selection. Plot selection. Long maceration in thermoregulated vats. Extraction by punching down. Long-term aging, partly in barrels. Frequent quality checks. Little handling of the wine before bottling.
Tasting notes
Beautiful deep garnet color with intense reflections. Its expressive and complex nose, composed of black (blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry) and red fruits (strawberry, redcurrant), is enhanced by wonderful toasted and vanilla notes. Its palate is rich, structured, fleshy and full. Perfect with roasted red meats or in sauce and characterful cheeses. Serve at 18 ° C.
