Production notes
Manual harvest, from late August to September. Fermentation is ensured by indigenous yeasts at a temperature varying between 24 and 28° C. When the must has reached the desired sugar level (normally within 48 hours), it is fortified with brandy. The wine is then aged in oak barrels in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The appellation 10 years or 20 years means the average age of the wines of the blend.
Tasting notes
Copper-colored and translucent, Otima 20 years old gives off rich aromas of hazelnut, tan and brown sugar. The palate is generous and reveals lingering notes of caramel, spices and candied fruit. Tannins and acidity ensure balance and perfect length. Superb with cheeses, nuts or dried fruits, crème brûlée or hazelnut or chocolate cake. Serve between 14 and 16 ° C.
